road rage #4

Isa siyang COMMUNICATION TOOL.

i never thought of it that way

it always feels great to get a fresh take on something you've been doing for so long. it's amazing how a different perspective can turn your world around (o sige, kahit 180 degrees lang), and make you approach a certain thing in a whole new way just because you heard something new about it.

here's what i recently read about competing or joining competitions:

"Competition places the athlete on center stage. Anytime you attempt to succeed publicly, where others can judge you, you risk failing. Over time, competing is a willingness to chance failure. Giving your best is what athletics is all about."

just a question on amazon...

i was surfing amazon and enjoying the features and reviews. i really appreciate how they give recommendations based on the titles you surfed, and the list that goes under the heading "customer who bought this book also bought..."

i especially love clicking on "add to my wish list", in hopes of some loved one finding my wish list and surprising me with my wanted items. hehehe.

scrolling down some more, i find the usual "editorial reviews", "product details" and "look inside this book", which lets you browse the table of contents and back cover, as if you were in a bookstore. coolness!

but then i come across the next heading called "citations", and under it reads:

93 books cite this book.

huh???

does this sentence have a hidden meaning, or did any of these five words recently develop brand new definitions that i wasn't aware of that i couldn't understand it?

maybe someone can explain it to me?

a morning dose of youtube

i don't think i've surfed around in youtube ever, but every now and then, i receive forwards from friends and relatives.

this morning was no exception: i received two videos; watched them both; and clicked another one out of interest. hahaha. at pucha, interesting nga! ang galing kasi halo-halo ang nahahanap mo sa youtube. no matter what your interest is, there's something for you.

below are my three finds :)

from abi - the title speaks for itself. a black kid getting too much of his own dose of the female rnb diva ;)

from cean - what is, for me, another smart move by smart communications. at least in terms of marketing. wala masyadong nago-online adversiting sa pilipinas eh, much less put uploading online videos via youtube. but with smart's clientele, it just *might* work. but even if it doesn't, i hope to see more local marketing material creep its way into this expansive video community, cos (1) its expansive and (2) it's FREE. what other medium can give you THAT kind of deal? NONE.

(as for the serivce, though, parang masyado pang mahal. but we'll see. baka may kumagat. speed dating, anyone? ;) take note: 27 hits pa lang and 0 comments! haha! dadami kaya?)

from a link on the previous video - miel, khevin and niknok love this game (god of war) and i love watching them play it. astig kasi yung graphics at yung storya eh. so pinanood ko lang yung clip from the 2nd installment, since miel doesn't have a copy yet. and my senses were not disappointed--it's much more brutal and gory than the first.

but what i found funny are the COMMENTS posted, especially this:

The most naked character in the whole game is the 3rd sister. But she's mega-obese and has hairy-scale crotch and like 17 floppy titties.

Best game evar.

from abs-cbn news...

(2nd UPDATE) Filipinas conquer Everest

Two Filipinas made history Wednesday by becoming the first ASEAN women to reach the top of Mt. Everest, the world's tallest mountain.

ABS-CBN Correspondent Abner Mercado said Noelle Wenceslao was the first to reach the summit at 6:10 a.m. Nepal time (8:10 a.m. in Manila) followed by Carina Dayondon at 6:20 a.m. (8:20 a.m. in Manila).

"Ang mensahe namin sa sambayanang Pilipino: naabot na ng Pinay ang tuktok ng mundo (Our message to our fellow countrymen is: a Filipina has reached the top of the world)," Mercado quoted Wenceslao as saying.

Mercado said the Philippine team at the Everest base camp has lost contact with Janet Belarmino but they are confident she will be able to reach the summit.

Lt. Arman Balilo, Philippine Coast Guard spokesman, earlier said Belarmino is just 30 minutes away from the summit.

An ABS-CBN report earlier said the three members of the "Kaya ng Pinay" Everest Team reached Advanced Base Camp (ABC) at 6,400 meters on Sunday.

ABS-CBN Correspondent Vince Rodriguez said the three Filipinas started their final ascent at 2 p.m. Tuesday.

The team expects to return to base camp in Nepal on Friday.

hungry for sounds

music MUSIC mUsiC ! ! !

ever since i discovered the convenience of downloading songs in multiply, i've been going on a regular weekend binge. the result of which is my playlist. so to those of you who don't notice, it's growing. not quickly nor steadily, but it IS growing.

i'm addicted to the songs i used to listen to in the 90's. back when i started listening to the radio (grade 6), fell in love with nu107, expanded my knowledge of rock/alternative music (thank you, abi), developed a love/hate relationship with pop music, and just started going to as many concerts as i can.

i'm also missing a lot of music. missing in the sense that i'm realizing all the CDs i've lost, and those singles which i couldn't dig up in multiply. list includes:

lost CDs
  • veruca salt - eight arms to hold you (I MISS THIS SOOOOOOOOOO MUCH!!!!!!) --> online downloads found! thanks, jerwin!
  • frente - marvin the album
  • moonpools & caterpillars - lucky dumpling
  • sarah mclachlan - surfacing
  • UPDATE [MAY 14]: creeper lagoon - i become small and go --> CD found!!! thanks, kris!
wanted songs
  • "hot lava" by perry farrell and d.v.d.a, from south park: chef aid (1998)
  • "so it goes" by wes cunningham, from 12 ways to win people to your way of thinking (1998)
  • "johnny feelgood" by liz phair, from whitechocolatespaceegg (1998)
  • "ladyfingers" by luscious jackson, from electric honey (1999)
  • "riot nrrrd" and "the best" [WANNA HEAR THIS!!!] by 2 skinny j's, from super mercado (1998)
  • UPDATE [MAY 14]: "valentine" by shades apart, from eyewitness (1999)
among others! i'm sure as i research some more this list will get longer.

so if you've got any of the above written albums and songs, let me know! please share the music! share the songs! share the love! i'm really craving for my veruca salt.
