2 things

since i haven't any time to write a decent blog post, i'll resort to enumeration. and spontaneous writing.

1. my mind's been flying. and i've been reading for "support". something i came across goes something like, "it's not the things you do that leave you troubled, but things that you don't". and because of that, i figured, i feel i will have more regret if i don't leave, than if i stay. i am more afraid of what will become of me if i don't take action, than if i stick to the status quo. makes sense? oo naman diba?

2. i've been having my "songs of the day". ewan ko bakit, but each day i end up finding this song i like and am complelled to hit the repeat button on it. not new songs (ako pa--hindi nga ako nakakakinig ng radyo o nood ng mtv), but songs i've liked ever since but just falling in love with all over again. monday was maroon 5's "makes me wonder". wednesday was "echo" by incubus. yesterday was "angel of silences" by counting crows. today it's "dig". hay, cheers to friendships.

Dig by Incubus

We all have a weakness
But some of ours are easier to identify.
Look me in the eye
And ask for forgiveness;
We'll make a pact to never speak that word again
Yes you are my friend.
We all have something that digs at us,
At least we dig each other
So when weakness turns my ego up
I know you'll count on the me from yesterday
If I turn into another
Dig me up from under what is covering
The better part of me
Sing this song
Remind me that we'll always have each other
When everything else is gone.
We all have a sickness
That cleverly attaches and multiplies
No matter how hard we try.
We all have someone that digs at us,
At least we dig each other
So when sickness turns my ego up
I know you'll act as a clever medicine.
If I turn into another
Dig me up from under what is covering
The better part of me.
Sing this song!
Remind me that we'll always have each other
When everything else is gone.
Oh each other....
When everything
Else is gone.

what "Ina" likes to do

this is too amusing to not share!!!!

i'm copying this "exercise" from Pamy, who stole it from her brother, so that just makes me a triple loser. haha. but nevermind. let's focus on the exercise...

what one is supposed to do is:
  1. Go to Google and type "<YOUR NAME> likes to" in the search box (ex. "Ina likes to"); include the quotation marks, and
  2. Type in the first ten things that come out.

i didn't know what the point of this exercise is. just to feast on one's self-centeredness (doubling vanity)? or try to see if there's any correlation between a person's name and what a person likes to do (yeah, right)? my mind chose to believe the latter simply cos i like to think i do things for a more sensible reasons (shya-ha! go ina!)

the results, in order of Google's claimed relevance:
  1. In her free time, Ina likes to read and take long walks in the wilderness.
  2. Ina likes to serve it with lemon curd and fresh raspberries, but a slice with a cup of tea in the afternoon is also just fine.
  3. Ina likes to drink beer.
  4. Ina likes to take recipes that she knows really well and play with them.
  5. When time permits Ina likes to keep active by playing volleyball or doing aerobic workouts.
  6. Ina likes to shake her leg alot.
  7. INA likes to report that the minimum paid out to a Diamond direct who qualified was 298K.
  8. Ina likes to undress in front of a mirror and fantasize about Bass.
  9. They also come for the fellowship and the scrumptious feasts Ina likes to dish out.
  10. I find that Ina likes to make huge amounts of huge items!
  11. Ina likes to play with toys during off hours and is trying to listen to mommy in order to get ahead professionally.
  12. Ina likes to cook food for her "friends"; her friends seem to consist entirely of stone faced women and flamboyantly gay men.
  13. Ina likes to fuck with anothers men.

french open fever

I’ve neither the patience nor the capacity to write a blow-by-blow analysis of the match, but I do have the energy to say this: My mom, future-sis-in-law (naks!!! Go kuya!) and I were sitting at the edge of the bed (doon kami kasya) and shrieking at every break point. We held our breaths in the loooong rallies and jumped out of our seats when the point was won. We let our overly-opinionated and know-it-all selves give critiques of what each player was doing wrong—perfectly aware that actual execution is much harder than it seems—simply because we couldn’t keep our emotions from pouring out. We loudly shared our “WHOAS!!!” at Federer’s amazing placements and Nadal’s shocking volley points. We gripped our sheets as Rafa sprinted from baseline to net (and to every corner of his side of the court!), and as Roger delivered his powerful ace shots that just left Nadal staring into space.

Cut the long story short: It was a breathtaking, sweat-breaking, heart-racing match, and regardless of who I rooted for, it showed me a fabulous time.

vamos, rafa!!!

allez, roger!!

Post-match was also great for me, because I was able to access the interviews with these fantastic players. And though Rafa won this match, my utter respect goes to both of them. Because it’s not about who won today, but about what you are as an athlete. And they are BOTH commendable athletes for their skills, discipline, attitude and passion.

Here are some excerpts from the interviews, which just made my respect for them triple in intensity:

Roger's never-say-die attitude

Rafa's respect for opponent

Roger's respect for opponent

Rafa's humility

Powerpoint Night!

Did you know that there's an on-the-spot PowerPoint-making contest here in the Philippines? Well, I didn't! It's organized by Geek Chorus and here's some info on the format and rules...

"...The first will be the Performance Powerpoint division which will feature Eight Powerpoint Artists making a quick three minute presentation on any subject of their choice. Prizes will be awarded to the best presentation, the most original content, the worst use of transitions and clip art as well as other categories that we’ll think up of on the spot.

The second category for Powerpoint night is the Open Category. Teams of Three people shall be assigned to present a Powerpoint Presentation that they have never seen before. Roles shall likewise be assigned at random to each team member (for example, CFO, HR Head, Boss’ Wife, Motor Pool Division Chief, etc.). The most convincing and funniest presentation wins...
"

I can't help but wonder if my dear commres friends will "bite the bullet" on this one. Tayo lang ang mae-excite dito. ;D
